TAMPA — Dominant defense and good field position proved key for Hillsborough as it shut out Middleton 30-0 Friday. After a slow first-quarter start, the Terriers scored their first touchdown on a 1-yard run by Leroy Harris. From there, the Terriers never looked back, scoring two more touchdowns to lead 22-0 at halftime.

Hillsborough continued its run success into the third quarter with senior Anthony Brown sprinting 57 yards for a touchdown. The Hillsborough defense was just as strong, led by defensive end Jordan Sherit's three sacks.

"We won our first game, but it sure did look like a first game in a lot of ways," Terriers coach Earl Garcia said. "It's been said that the largest improvement comes in between the first and second game. And we're going to definitely need to improve a lot with Plant coming in next week."
