It's the most wonderful time of the year … especially if you're a sports fan with a comfy couch. Over the next 10 days there is an abundance of bowl games, NFL games, NHL games, college basketball games and NBA games. Here are highlights.

NHLWild at Blue Jackets7:30 p.m., VersusYou don't get to see these teams much. Usually for good reason.
NFLSaints at Falcons8:30 p.m., ESPNAn NFC South game between rivals.
CBKBConnecticut at Pittsburgh8:30 p.m., ESPN2A top-tier Big East game.
Tuesday
CFBChamps Sports Bowl: N.C. State vs. West Virginia6:30 p.m., ESPNNot the bowl game either school wanted, so it should be interesting to see which one is more motivated.
NBAMagic at Cavaliers7 p.m., FSNIt's the third game in four days for the Magic, which can't be liking the schedule makers much.
CBKBFairfield at Florida7 p.m., ESPNUIf the intensity is turned up a notch and everything goes right, Florida's got a chance.
NHLBruins at Lightning7:30 p.m., VersusTampa Bay gets a national audience against a decent Boston team.

CFBTexas Bowl: Illinois vs. Baylor6 p.m., ESPNSee, Military Bowl, this is how you do it. A Texas team is playing in a Texas bowl game.
CFBAlamo Bowl: Oklahoma State vs. Arizona9:15 p.m., ESPNThese teams are very good.
Thursday
CFBArmed Forces Bowl: SMU vs. Armynoon, ESPNNot to pick on you, Military Bowl, but … . And good for SMU getting back to relevance.
CFBPinstripe Bowl: Kansas State vs. Syracuse3:20 p.m., ESPNBeing played at the college football mecca of Yankee Stadium (hence, the bowl's name).
CFBMusic City Bowl: North Carolina vs. Tennessee6:40 p.m., ESPNA battle between two teams that can't wait until next year.
NBAKnicks at Magic7 p.m., TNTGoing back to Dec. 20, this is Orlando's seventh game in 10 days.
CBKBTemple at Villanova7 p.m., ESPN2For the college basketball fans.
NHLCanadiens at Lightning7:30, Sun SportsLightning coach Guy Boucher takes on his former organization at home.
NBASpurs at Mavericks9:30 p.m., TNTWorth it just to see if Mark Cuban gets kicked out.
CFBHoliday Bowl: Nebraska vs. Washington10 p.m., ESPNThis could be the biggest blowout of the bowl season.
Dec. 31
CFBMeineke Car Care Bowl: USF vs. Clemsonnoon, ESPNThe Bulls have had a surprisingly good season. Clemson has not.
CBKBKentucky at Louisvillenoon, Ch. 10Both teams are down a little, but it's a huge intrastate rivalry.
CFBSun Bowl: Miami vs. Notre Dame2 p.m., Ch. 10This was a good game 20 years ago.
CFBLiberty Bowl: UCF vs. Georgia3:30 p.m., ESPNThe Knights have been exciting to watch, and former Plant quarterback Aaron Murray has looked good for the Bulldogs.
CBKBFlorida at Xavier4 p.m., ESPN2The Gators play a dangerous nonconference game before SEC games begin.
CBKBOhio State at Indiana6 p.m., ESPN2Indiana is looking to get back to relevance. Winning this game would be a big step toward it.
CBKBUSF at Connecticut6 p.m., ESPNUIf the Bulls can find some scoring, they can beat the vulnerable Huskies.
CFBChick-fil-A Bowl: FSU vs. South Carolina7:30 p.m., ESPNIf there's one team South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier would love to beat it's those stinkin' Seminoles.
NHLCoyotes at Blues8:30 p.m., VersusTwo West teams trying to stay in the playoff hunt.
Jan. 1
CFBTicketCity Bowl: Northwestern vs. Texas Technoon, ESPNUThis one's for the alums.
CFBOutback Bowl: Florida vs. Penn State1 p.m., Ch. 28Florida's Urban Meyer would love to end his UF career on a high note. Penn State is 3-0 in this bowl.
NHLWinter Classic: Capitals at Penguins1 p.m., Ch. 8Hockey the way it used to be, outside in the middle of a football field.
CFBCapital One Bowl: Michigan State vs. Alabama1 p.m., ESPNThe Spartans would love to cap a dream season with a win over once mighty Alabama.
CFBGator Bowl: Michigan vs. Mississippi State1:30 p.m., ESPN2These teams could combine for more than 100 points.
CFBRose Bowl: Wisconsin vs. TCU5 p.m., ESPNTCU is supposed to have a dominant defense. We'll see against score-crazy Wisconsin.
CFBFiesta Bowl: Oklahoma vs. UConn8:30 p.m., ESPNOn paper, this game looks like a rout. But as they say, the game isn't played on paper.
