How to get ahead of the pack in Baby and Toddler of the Year contest

POSING princes and princesses are being encouraged to beat the crowds this weekend.

Young starlets who have the picture-perfect smile are being urged to head to St Stephen's shopping centre in Hull to avoid the queues for our Baby And Toddler Of The Year competition.

Sundays are usually the quietest day for the team of photographers so they say this weekend is the best time to enter the competition.

Commercial photographic manager Marc Dewhurst said: "This year's event has been incredibly popular, we cannot believe the number of entrants we are getting.

"But, from experience, I know some people wait to the last day to enter, which can mean big queues and grumpy tots.

"To avoid disappointment, I would encourage parents to bring babies and toddlers along tomorrow, as that is usually the quietest day."

Stacey Egon puts her three-year-old son Leo into the competition every year and this year she also brought along six-month-old Jaxson to be photographed for the contest.

Ms Egon, 25, of Bransholme, said: "We were really excited last year when Leo got through to the finals.

"Leo is a right poser. Jaxson wasn't quite as good in front of the camera and refused to smile at first, but we got there in the end.

"The prize money would really come in handy.

"Even if they don't win, they are both absolutely gorgeous to me."

Photographers will be in St Stephen's shopping centre until Saturday, May 14.

Anyone wishing to enter simply has to take along the token on this page.

Three runners-up will each receive 500 while the winner gets a coveted trophy and 1,500.
