THE Mail's competition for smiling tots is even more popular than last year.
Our Baby And Toddler Of The Year contest has seen proud parents queuing up at St Stephen's shopping centre in Hull.
The centre's good location means this year's competition is already proving to be more popular than last year – with the number of entrants up by ten per cent in the first two days.
Commercial photographic manager Marc Dewhurst said: "This is the first time we have been in St Stephen's and we are already doing much better than last year.
"We have the bus and train stations and good parking nearby, as well as the Tesco store, so a lot of people have been able to pop in on their way somewhere else.
"On Monday, we saw 78 babies and toddlers.
"I haven't got the figures for Tuesday yet but, at the rate we were going, I am sure we beat that yesterday."
Mr Dewhurst, who is heading the photography team at St Stephen's has urged more people to come along this weekend, particularly on Sunday.
He said: "We often get a big rush on the last few days of the competition, which means some people can be queuing a really long time.
"Sundays are often quieter so they should get along this week- end instead to avoid being disappointed."
Mr Dewhurst also said there have been lots of entrants for the lower age categories, but few in the 3 to 5 years age range.
He said: "We haven't been running the 3 to 5 category for very long and people assume the competition is just for babies.
"It definitely isn't – it is for toddlers too, so families with pre-schoolers should come along as well."
Kayden Cooke, 10 months, posed for the camera yesterday with his mum Kayleigh Allison and dad Damien Cooke.
Miss Allison, who lives on the Gipsyville estate, said: "He loved having his photograph taken – he was a right flirt with the photographer.
"He is a gorgeous baby, which is why we decided to enter him into the competition."
