Cleveland Cavaliers P.M. Links: Sessions is not playing well; Trash talking; Game stories

Ramon Sessions has slowed down.

ramon-sessions3.jpgRamon Sessions (center) is not getting to the basket as often as earlier this season.

Chronicle-Telegram reporter Brian Dulik writes how Ramon Sessions is playing his worst basketball of the season, but he's still the Cavaliers’ starting point guard for now.

On Sunday, Sessions had four points, five assists and four turnovers in 21 minutes in a loss to Oklahoma City.

Dulik also writes how Sessions went 1-for-7 from the field, making him 15-for-53 (.283) with 15 turnovers over his last five games.

“Ramon hasn’t played well the last week,” Cavaliers coach Byron Scott said. “I don’t care what the circumstances are. He hasn’t played well.”

Perhaps coincidentally, Sessions’ struggles began shortly after Cleveland acquired point guard Baron Davis from the Los Angeles Clippers.

Scott immediately declared Davis his starter to-be, but saw those plans delayed when the bearded veteran left the club six days ago following the death of his grandmother.

For the year, Sessions is averaging 12.5 points, 5.4 assists and 2.1 miscues.

Talking smack

It looks like coach Byron Scott can find something else to be upset about. During Sunday's loss to the Oklahoma Thunder, the Thunder said Russell Westbrook found motivation behind his 14 third-quarter points because of the Cavaliers, writes Darnell Mayberry for NewsOak.com

Kevin Durant said the team began playing off Westbrook “because once he gets it going, he's going to be tough to stop.”

“The thing about it, he didn't do it outside the offense,” Durant said. “He did everything within the offense and everybody still looked good. They (the Cavs) were talking a little bit over there. That's one thing Russ really doesn't like. It kind of ticks him off a little bit. He came and did his thing.”
