Elton Alexander's NCAA breakdown: Kansas wins, but Fisher's Aztecs make some noise

Kansas should top the Heels in a blue-blood finale.

My Final Four: North Carolina, San Diego State, Pitt, Kansas

My championship game

Kansas 77, North Carolina 70: It won't be easy, but the bluebloods of college basketball meet in the final game for what could be a classic.

Teams who can catch a break

Sleeper teams capable of surprising people:

San Diego State: Free throws (69.8 percent) are a concern, but holding teams to 39.6 percent shooting this season can't be denied. Make no mistake, this is a legit Elite Eight/Final Foul possibility.

St. John's: Even before Steve Lavin arrived, St. John's was expected to be a player in the Big East this season. Pressure doesn't hit until next year for the Red Storm. Toughest NCAA game will be the first. Win that one, they're Cinderella from then on out.

Old Dominion: Another strong defensive team (40.4 percent) that is deep and athletic. Also No. 1 in the nation averaging 12.2 rebounds per game more than the opposition.

Gonzaga: Name a Mark few team that can't score (76.7 ppg).

Who's out

Expect these teams be out sooner rather than later:

Michigan State: Big Ten teams are traditionally long haulers or short runners without much in between in NCAA Tournament play. Just getting one dance proved a major accomplishment this season for Sparty.

Missouri: The Tigers rely a bit too much on the 3-pointer which is great for the big upset, but not for staying around more than a game or two. And the defense is not quite as smothering as usual.

Georgetown: For whatever reason, under coach JT III, the Bulldogs just don't seem to have much staying power in a tournament setting.

Clemson: ACC teams with staying power, beyond Duke and North Carolina, are rare and this year will be no exception to the rule.
