Teacher in rape trial denies being 'a bully' and 'manipulative' towards teenager

​A TEACHER accused of raping and sexually assaulting two teenage girls was "overbearing and manipulative", a jury heard.
Anthony David Dockerty, 40, told a jury at Hull Crown Court he did not sexually assault a 15-year-old girl and only had consensual sex with a 16-year-old girl.
The teacher, of The Ryedales, west Hull, denies two rapes, attempted rape, two sexual assaults, indecent assault and sexual activity with a child against two teenage girls.
Referring to the allegations relating to the 16-year-old girl, prosecutor David Gordon put it to Mr Dockerty: "You were going to have your way whether illegally or legally, that's how it was.
"You were overbearing and manipulative and isolated her from her friends so you could control her that bit better.
"You were a bully and you were persistent."
Mr Dockerty replied: "That's not true. She was quite willing. It certainly never happened as she says."
It is alleged Mr Dockerty snorted cocaine and indecently assaulted the girl, before raping her.
Mr Gordon said: "She locked herself in the bathroom. You were unsympathetic, telling her not to spoil your fun.
"She was writing in her diary about being raped by you. Why would she lie to herself in the diary?"
Mr Dockerty replied: "I have no idea."
When the prosecution asked Mr Dockerty about the allegations he sexually assaulted the 15-year-old girl, he replied: "It never happened. She made it up.
"I am not guilty."
Mr Dockerty told the jury he had made a "massive mistake" when he groomed a schoolgirl on Facebook.
He has already pleaded guilty to sexual grooming and having sexual activity with a pupil while he was a teacher last year.
The jury was told he had initially lied to the police when he was arrested and interviewed about grooming a pupil.
Mr Gordon said: "You said the young lady had been invited to your house for extra maths lessons – one to one lessons with you – that's what you told the police and that was a lie?"
Mr Dockerty answered: "Yes".
