Carers and patients will benefit from new website

A new website has been created to help patients, carers and health professionals.

It has been devised by the East Midlands Cancer Network, which is responsible for providing support and advice to cancer patients as well those looking after them.

It includes information on chemotherapy, supportive and palliative care, children's services and services for teenagers and young adults services.

The idea is to point people in the direction of relevant websites to make it quicker and easier to find information.

Health workers will also be able to use the site to look up copies of agendas and minutes of meetings as well as other documents to help with their work.

Mike Rooksby, chairman of the network's partnership group, said: "Patients will be able to access information regarding the work of the group and see copies of the minutes of the last meetings.

"This will give them a better insight to the work and discussions that take place."

Jo Kavanagh, the network's nurse director, said: "Patients and carers will also be able to find out how they can get involved with this and other network groups plus a variety of different activities including local patient partnership groups.

"Feedback from these groups help to improve services and make a positive difference for cancer patients across the region."
