Father had child porn images on computer

A married father of three who accessed hundreds of indecent images of youngsters on the internet has been given a suspended jail sentence.

Gary Lennie (44), a computer engineer, admitted six counts of making indecent photographs of children by downloading them at home, between January 2005 and March 2010.

They related to 819 images at level one, the least serious category, eight images at level two, four images at level three and seven images at level four.

Leicester Crown Court was told that since his last appearance in court the defendant and his family had been harassed into moving from their former home in Raven Close, Measham.

He had also had his car fire-bombed.

Lennie was arrested and confessed to his wrongdoing after police visited his home and seized his computer last year.

He received a 14-week jail sentence, suspended for two years, with a requirement to attend a sex offender programme.

He was made the subject of a sexual offences prevention order restricting his use of the internet for five years.

The defendant, who has no previous convictions, was banned from working with children and will have to enlist on a sex offender register.

In mitigation, the court heard he found the indecent images by chance and viewed them out of "boredom".

Judge Rogers ordered the confiscation and destruction of the defendant's home computer.

He warned Lennie that if he did not abide by the court's orders, he would be facing jail.
