EAST YORKS: Coastguards were called to rescue a man who was believed to have fallen from Flamborough Cliffs yesterday morning.

Rescue workers from Bridlington went to the cliffs at about 1.30am.

The emergency call had come from the man's partner, as she had not seen him for a while and had become worried about him.

Coastguards found the man, who was not injured, and left him in the care of paramedics to be medically assessed.

NORTH FERRIBY: Startled diners saw a suspected illegal immigrant being taken away when UK Border Police swooped on a restaurant in the High Street in North Ferriby.

At 8pm on Thursday evening, officers arrested a 26-year-old Albanian man who was found to be working illegally in Medici restaurant.

Steps will now be taken to remove him from the country and the restaurant owners face a fine of up to �10,000.

HULL: Homeless people from Hull will be burying a time capsule today at the site of a new housing centre.

They will be burying the capsule at The Crossings in Great Union Street.

The centre is still being built but soon some of the residents will be starting their safety training so they can work on the site alongside builders, helping with internal finishing, painting and decorating.

Once open, the building will provide housing, training and be an enterprise centre for homeless people.

HULL: Disabled people from Hull and their family and friends are being urged to protest in London.

They are being encouraged to join The Hardest Hit – a peaceful demonstration in the centre of London being held on Wednesday, May 11.

The new campaign is against cutbacks to disability benefits and services is being co-ordinated by the UK Disabled People's Council and the Disability Benefits Consortium and is expected to bring Westminster to a standstill.

The groups estimate disabled people and their families will be �9 billion worse off over the course of the cuts.

WEST HULL: A three-day course for young budding artists is being held in this week.

Children aged from 7 to 14 who want to further their talents in art can take part in the workshops being held at the Artlink centre in Princes Avenue.

The classes are aimed at children who want develop their artistic skills or who may feel uncertain about their capabilities.

HULL: The Hull And Humber Chamber Of Commerce is holding a charity golf tournament and dinner on Friday, June 24, to raise money for Dove House Hospice's Love You 2 Appeal.
