Doctors and nurses fighting for the future of children's heart surgery at Glenfield Hospital have launched a new website.
They are campaigning to ensure Glenfield becomes a designated centre under a review of children's heart surgery in England.
The review, being carried out by the NHS Specialised Services organisation, is recommending the number of hospitals providing the surgery be cut from 11 to six or seven.
Glenfield is named in just one of four options – option A – put forward in the review.
Giles Peek, a consultant children's heart surgeon and head of the unit, said: "Our new website will explain to patients, their families and the general public how they can support us to vote option A.
"It will also advise our patients and their families about what to expect when they come into the centre, inform visitors about the range of services we offer and provide opportunities for everyone to comment on and contribute towards the website's future development."
The website has all the latest news from the centre, patient stories, profiles on the team and links to further information, support and advice on all matters relating to congenital heart conditions.
In addition, supporters can follow the campaign on Twitter and Facebook, which has added 500 friends in two weeks.
