PALMETTO — Steinbrenner picked up a road shutout of Palmetto, winning Thursday's Class 4A quarterfinal 3-0.
Sophomore forward Oliver Ortiz shrugged off a shoulder-to-shoulder bump to position himself free in the penalty box. Then he fired the ball toward the far post that made it 1-0 just seconds into the second half. He later added a goal for the Warriors (16-4-2).
"I think my first goal was all about pace," said. Ortiz, who has 18 goals this season. "I got the ball in, and the defender was coming in and luckily for me, I had pace enough to get past him."
