EAST YORKS: The jazz and blues festival in Burton Agnes Hall is returning for the fifth year in August.

Set in the grounds of an historic Elizabethan hall, the festival, which will take place from Friday, August 5, to Sunday, August 7, is organised by its sax-playing owner Simon Cunliffe-Lister and jazz singer Saffron Byass.

Performing at this year's festival are multi-award winning Claire Martin, and jazz singer-songwriter Jacqui Dankworth Quartet.

Many more artists are to be announced over the coming weeks.

EAST YORKS: Councils and groups that either manage their own play spaces, or are planning to, are invited to free workshops.

The events take place next month and are run by Play England. On Tuesday, March 1, it will be held at the Treasure House in Beverley from 9.30am to 12.30pm and Goole Town Council offices from 3pm to 6pm.

On Wednesday 2, it will be held at The Spa Bridlington, from 9am to noon.

SWANLAND: The parish council are looking to create a link path along Dale Road to Nut Wood.

The move follows concern about safety walking near the road. It is hoped a path would also encourage more people to walk.

WITHERNSEA: A volunteer managers and organisers' forum is being held at the Shores Centre on Tuesday, March 1.

The free event, from 12.15pm to 2.15pm, is a chance to promote local partnership working and to keep groups updated about changes within volunteering.

COTTINGHAM: A charity that sends gifts to vulnerable people in Bulgaria will be raising funds at a gift fair on Saturday, April 9, from 10am to 4pm.

The money raised by Bulgarian Aid from the gift fair at Cottingham Civic Hall will go towards the transportation costs of 20 pallets of food to Bulgaria.
