WEST HULL: The official opening of the new Bricknell Children's Centre will be held on Monday, February 21.

There will be art and craft activities for all the family, face-painting and story time.

Families can go along to see the new facilities and find out what services will be available from the centre in Bricknell Avenue, next to the primary school.

The celebrations will be held from 1pm until 4pm, with an official opening at 2pm by Lord Mayor councillor David Gemmell.

HULL: Hull Civic Society would like to hear from businesses in the city who are interested in having a corporate member present on the board.

Current members include Arco Humberside, Ingrams Solicitors and the Prospect Centre.

HULL: A carers' forum will be held on Wednesday, March 9, at the Carers' Centre Hull in Prospect Street.

The meetings are held on the second Wednesday of each month from 1.30pm to 3.30pm and refreshments are served.

Anyone wishing to discuss a particular topic, hear from a representative of a group or service or find out about previous forums can contact the centre on 01482 225078.

HULL: Dawson Carr from the National Gallery will give a talk on Velasquez tonight.

Diego Velasquez was a court painter to Philip IV of Spain, most famous for his work Las Meninas.

The lecture is being held at the Middleton Hall on the University Of Hull campus off Cottingham Road at 6pm.

HULL: A spring concert featuring the City of Hull Youth Symphony Orchestra will be held at Hull City Hall on Thursday, April 14, at 7.30pm.

Tickets, priced �5 to �7, are available from the box office on 01482 226655.

WEST HULL: Anlaby Gardeners' Society will be hearing a talk on the pruning of shrubs and small trees on Monday, March 28.

John Killingbeck, of Market Weighton, will be holding the lecture from 7.45pm at Anlaby Village Hall in Hull Road.

Entry costs �2, which includes refreshments.
