Clampdown on speeding motorists in Oadby

​Police are cracking down on speeding drivers in Oadby.

Speed checks will be carried out after residents voiced their concerns about dangerous driving on Oadby 's streets.

Officers from Oadby and the Road Policing Unit will be carrying out speed and road safety checks between Monday, February 14 and Friday, February 18.

After community consultations, officers said that residents identified speeding motorists as a policing priority particularly between the hours of 8am to 10am and 2.30pm to 5.30pm

Drivers will be spoken to and advised or sent a warning letter explaining if their vehicle is seen to be exceeding the speed limit.

Pcso Joe Couchman said: "I am hoping to send a strong road safety message that speeding in Oadby will not be tolerated. Oadby is a residential area and care needs to be taken or the consequences could be fatal."

Officers with speed recording devices will be covering Severn Road, Manor Road at the Junction with Blackthorn Lane and Knighton Church Road.
