SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — At the frosty Phoenix Open, it was fitting that a guy called "Tommy Two Gloves" shared the lead.

Not that Tommy Gainey thinks the extra glove really helps in cold conditions.

"I don't necessarily think it's an advantage when it's real cold. … I mean, my hands, even though I had the gloves on, they were still freezing," Gainey said. "I didn't have much feel in my hands at that time."

Gainey and Mark Wilson reached 11 under Friday before darkness forced suspension of the frost-delayed second round.

The tournament will finish Monday, with all fans let in free.

Wilson played 14 holes in the second round, and Gainey finished nine.

Frost delayed play until just after 2 p.m. Eastern — 94 minutes after the scheduled start that was already nearly two hours later than normal.

PGA Tour officials said the cut will stay at the top 70 and ties.

"In a perfect world, probably finish Monday, maybe four or five holes, best-case scenario," said Slugger White, the PGA Tour's vice president of rules. " … It's unbelievable how frozen these greens get, and they just don't thaw out."

Only six players finished Round 2, and 64 didn't get on the course Friday.

Gainey, a two-time Nationwide Tour winner last year, took the first-round lead at 8-under 63 then had four birdies and a bogey on the first nine holes in the second round. Wilson opened with 65 and was 5 under for 14 holes in the second round.

Phil Mickelson, on the leaderboard Thursday after 67, didn't start the second round.

LPGA: Defending champion Yani Tseng shot 6-under 67 to take a two-stroke lead in the rain-interrupted Women's Australian Open in Melbourne. Tseng was at 137; Tampa's Cindy LaCrosse (68) was tied for fourth and was among those completing the second round early today.

EUROPEAN: Lee Westwood shot 3-over 75 to miss the cut at the Qatar Masters in Doha, opening the door for Martin Kaymer to replace him at the top of the world rankings. Markus Brier (66) took a one-shot lead over Darren Fichardt (68) at 7-under 137 after the second round. Kaymer could be No. 1 with a top-two finish. He was 10 strokes back after shooting 70.
