Leicestershire police launch week of action in Highfields

Leicestershire police are taking action to cut crime in part of Highfields.

They have launched a week-long police operation today to reduce crime and anti-social behaviour in the Upper Tichborne Street area of South Highfields.

Sgt Danny Graham said: "We have conducted analysis during 2010 which has identified people responsible for a variety of crime and anti-social behaviour problems in that location.
"This operation will increase both visible and covert Police patrols to target individuals, to reduce incidents, and include the execution of warrants. Local people will see an increase in police activity during this time, but should not be alarmed. Your local officers will be working hard to make the area a safer place in which to live."

The scheme will target and reduce crime generally, but include action against disorderly and unacceptable behaviour, disrupt drug activity, improve community reassurance and confidence, and include work with local volunteers from the Trinity Life Church to conduct door to door consultations, remove litter and graffiti to improve the appearance of the locality.
