He said it

"When I was 21, I thought I was one of the top five baddest guys on the planet. At 51, you realize maybe you weren't."

Howie Long, Fox NFL analyst and Pro Football Hall of Famer, to USA Today, talking about feeling the wear and tear on his 51-year-old body after playing 13 seasons in the NFL as a defensive lineman for the Raiders

Head-shaking item of the day

It's amazing just how popular the NFL has become on television. Not only might Sunday's Super Bowl attract more than 106 million viewers to become the most-watched TV show ever, but last week's Pro Bowl did solid numbers. About 13.4 million tuned in, which was way more than the other big events of the weekend: Celtics-Lakers (7 million), the PGA Tour (5.3 million) and the U.S. Figure Skating Championships (3.9 million).
