Looking good for losses

The pounds have been slipping off for our intrepid band of Mercury slimmers after they had the help of fitness guru Rosemary Conley.

Four members of our group – who have now entered month four of their 2011 "get fit" regime – received the unexpected boost.

Rosemary stepped in and offered them each a month's supply of her calorie-counted meals, gave them advice and also treated them to a special photo shoot and make over, at her Quorn headquarters.

Husband and wife Jim and Jenny Read, from Sapcote, have been so pleased with their progress with Rosemary's meals they have decided to order a few more.

Both have lost about 7lb during March – one of the biggest losses in the past few months.

Mr Read said: "The meals gave our weight loss quite a little boost because we had reached a bit of a plateau.

"I have noticed a difference this month and think I will have to buy some new, smaller trousers."

His wife said: "We got on really well with the meals.

"It was also a lot of fun taking part in the photo shoot."

Rosemary said: "To lose another 7lb after their initial 9lb is fantastic and I know they feel so much fitter as a result of losing over a stone."

Amanda Needham, a nurse at Leicester Royal Infirmary and colleague Pat Johnson, have also been trying out the Conley meals.

Amanda, 41, wants to drop to 12st in time for her September wedding. She has lost a total of 1st 4lbs since February.

But it was the transformation with the makeover and photo shoot that was the highlight of last month for her.

Amanda said: "The photo shoot was lovely – we all went to Marks & Spencer and Rosemary helped us to choose some clothes for the pictures.

"I went home feeling very glamorous but I did find it quite hard to stick to the special meals.

"I have two young children and then cook for my partner and his daughter and it is difficult to then have something completely different myself."

Pat also lost weight in the past month.

Rosemary said: "I'm delighted Amanda and Pat were able to lose half a stone each in a month, and I think this gives them the kick-start they wanted to continue with their weight loss journey."

However, Jo Lee, a specialist TB nurse at Leicester's Glenfield Hospital has had a disheartening month in her battle to try to get from 14st 12lb to 10st.

She said: "I am struggling with the whole diet thing.

"In the past, I have lost 4st 7lb so I know I can do it and what I need to do. I have lost some weight but then put it back on.

"I am finding it all a little disheartening."

Steven Eadie, 44, from New Humberstone, is still losing some weight.

He said: "I am still cutting down on my alcohol intake and meal portion sizes. I want to lose weight gradually."
