RECORD TV RATINGS AS PLAYOFFS START
The playoffs' first two games set a slew of milestones for NFL television ratings.
The Seahawks' 41-36 upset of the Saints on NBC earned the highest preliminary rating for the early Saturday wild-card game in two decades. The 18.3 overnight rating (percentage of all homes with TVs), with a 33 share (percentage of TVs on at the time), was the best since the Redskins-Eagles game during the 1990 season. The Jets' 17-16 victory Saturday night over the Colts earned the highest rating since the NFL began airing prime-time wild card games in 2002. The 20.8/33 was the best for any Saturday wild-card game since Arizona-Dallas during the 1999 season. Overnight ratings measure the biggest cities.
EAGLES: WR DeSean Jackson briefly left Sunday's game with an injured left knee but returned late in the second quarter. … LB Stewart Bradley (elbow) and G Max Jean-Gilles (sprained ankle) were inactive.
SAINTS: RB Reggie Bush left Saturday's loss in Seattle after taking a hit to his lower right leg. That was an area where he fractured a bone early in the regular season. X-rays were negative. "It just flared up on me a little bit and I couldn't run full speed," Bush said. … Jay Glazer of Fox Sports reported that the Saints tried to acquire Marshawn Lynch this season but the Bills did not get back to them and sent him to Seattle instead. Lynch's 67-yard touchdown run in which he broke eight tackles helped the Seahawks put away Saturday's upset of the Saints.
