EAST LAKE — Gaither and East Lake are teams known for their disciplined attack. In Friday's region final, Cowboys forward Jordan See showed it, scoring two goals en route to a 3-1 Gaither victory.

"I can't say enough about Jordan See," Cowboys' coach Eric Sims said. "He's had a hurt hamstring for a while but continues to play hard for us."

The Cowboys scored the winning goal on a set piece. Jacob Snidle sent a free kick toward the net that Paul Barrett was able to head past the goalkeeper to put Gaither up 2-1.

In the second half keeper John Nardozzi made a diving save of a Cameron Coughlin shot and denied Brett Hummel the chance to tie when he saved a shot over the crossbar.

"Both of these teams are good attacking teams," Sims said. "…I'm sure it was exciting for the fans."

See's second goal came on a breakaway. He streaked pass two defenders and beat the keeper just as he was taken down in the box.

In the 10th minute, Gaither used a strong counterattack for See's first goal. East Lake held the ball in Gaither's end of the field before a turnover allowed the Cowboys to go on a run up the right side. Paul Hinebrough sent a cross into the penalty area that See controlled and put past the keeper.

"I wouldn't say we ran a play," See said. "We do drills for that and its something we have been practicing."

Ryan Wankat tied the score for East Lake in the 16th minute. A foul set up a free kick from the left of the penalty area. David Gray's attempt was blocked and the ball came to Wankat, whose shot was deflected over the goalkeeper's head for the goal.

East Lake couldn't find the back of the net again. In the first half, Hummel sent a shot that just went over the crossbar and another was saved by Nardozzi.
