Women's basketball: USF Bulls fall to Pittsburgh Panthers 70-66

PITTSBURGH — Jania Sims hit two free throws with 3:04 left in the game to put Pittsburgh ahead for good, and USF blew an 11-point second-half lead to lose its fourth straight, 70-66 on Saturday afternoon.

Andrell Smith had 16 points and Akila McDonald a career-high 15 for the Bulls (10-15, 1-10 Big East), who led 48-37 on a layup by Andrea Smith with 14:28 left.

The Panthers responded with a 17-4 run capped by Sims' three-point play with 8:31 left, giving them a 54-52 lead.

Andrell Smith's three-point play and a layup by Daleisha Carn with 6:56 left put USF back in front 57-54. But the Bulls didn't hit another field goal for more than four minutes.

Taneisha Harrison had 27 points to lead the Panthers (12-12, 4-7).

ECKERD 69, NOVA SE 67: Kati Rausberg hit a 3-pointer as time expired and scored 12 as the visiting Tritons (14-9, 7-6 Sunshine State) rallied from a 17-point second-half deficit.

ROLLINS 73, SAINT LEO 50: Amber Heistan had 21 points as the host Tars handed the Lions (9-15, 1-12 SSC) their sixth straight loss.

NO. 1 BAYLOR 96, TEXAS 68: Brittney Griner had 29 points, missed a dunk and outscored the Longhorns in the first half, leading the host Bears (23-1, 10-0 Big 12) to their 20th straight win.

NO. 2 UCONN 68, PROVIDENCE 38: Freshman Stefanie Dolson matched her career high with 21 points to lead the visiting Huskies (24-1, 12-0 Big East) to their 12th straight win.

NO. 6 TEXAS A&M 81, KANSAS 58: Danielle Adams had 26 of her school-record 40 points in the first half to lead the host Aggies (21-2, 9-1 Big 12).

NO. 7 XAVIER 77, FORDHAM 55: Amber Harris had 18 points for the host Musketeers (21-2, 10-0), who never trailed and won their 25th straight Atlantic 10 game.

NO. 8 NOTRE DAME 71, RUTGERS 49: Devereaux Peters had 21 points to lead the host Irish (22-4, 11-1 Big East).

NO. 9 UCLA 58, OREGON ST. 48: Markel Walker had a season-high 18 points for the visiting Bruins (21-2, 11-1 Pac-10).

NO. 10 DEPAUL 64, NO. 21 MARQUETTE 56: Anna Martin scored 20 for the host Blue Demons (23-3, 10-1 Big East), who scored the first 13 of the second half to stop the Golden Eagles (19-5, 7-4).

NO. 14 OKLA. 69, MISSOURI 47: Joanna McFarland matched her career high with 14 points, and the host Sooners (18-6, 8-3 Big 12) relied on improved post play.

NO. 18 WIS.-GREEN BAY 69, LOYOLA-CHICAGO 43: Julie Wojta had 17 points and 15 rebounds as the visiting Phoenix (24-1, 13-0 Horizon League) won their 15th straight.
