In Brief

EAST YORKS: A PhD student is appealing for help to trace a family from Tranby Croft.

David Coates, who is at the University Of Warwick, is researching private and amateur theatricals in country houses and is particularly interested in Tranby Croft.

He said: "After contacting local libraries and archives in Hull, I have found that the family archive of the Wilson family, who once owned and lived at Tranby Croft, remains with the family itself."

Anyone who is able to assist Mr Coates can email him at D.J.Coates@warwick.ac.uk or call 07746858692.

HULL: Police are appealing for witnesses after a motorist hit the car of an 80-year-old man and failed to stop.

It happened in St Andrew's Quay between 1pm and 1.30pm on December 23.

The collision caused damage to the front and rear bumper of the man's Mondeo.

The driver of the other vehicle, believed to have been a silver Nissan X-Trail, then left the scene without exchanging details.

The 80-year-old man was spoken to by a woman who saw it and police want to trace her.

She is described as white, aged 30 to 39, of medium build with brown hair. She also had a push chair.

Police would like the driver of the vehicle, the female witness and anyone else who may have information in connection with the collision to call Humberside Police on 0845 6060222 quoting log 250 of December 23.

No pre-booking is needed.
